Aban bin Sa'eed bin al-As al-Umawi was a companion of Prophet Muhammad from the Umayyad clan of the Quraysh tribe. He was the son of Sa'eed bin al-As and the brother of Khalid and Amr. He initially opposed Islam and fought against the Muslims at the Battle of Badr, where his two brothers were killed. However, he later embraced Islam after intense dispute and migrated to Medina. The Prophet appointed him as the governor of Bahrain in the 9th year of Hijrah. He remained in this position until the Prophet's death. He then pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr and participated in the conquest of Syria, where he was martyred at the Battle of Ajnadayn in 13 AH (634 CE). He was known for his intelligence, eloquence, and administrative skills.
