Aban bin Uthman bin Affan (20 AH - 105 AH) was a prominent Tabi'i, narrator of hadith, and historian. He was the son of Caliph Uthman ibn Affan (the third Caliph of Islam) and served as the governor of Medina from 75 AH to 82 AH during the reign of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan. He was known for his knowledge of hadith and fiqh, with Amr ibn Shu'ayb stating: 'I have not seen anyone more knowledgeable in hadith and fiqh than Aban bin Uthman.' He was also the first person to compile narrations on the Sirah (biography) of Prophet Muhammad. He participated in the Battle of the Camel alongside Aisha. He died in Medina in 105 AH at the age of 85.
