He was the son of Jahsh bin Riyab and Ummaymah bint Abd al-Muttalib, making him the cousin of the Prophet. He was the brother of Zaynab bint Jahsh (one of the Prophet's wives) and Abdullah bin Jahsh. He was blind yet would walk around Mecca without a guide. He migrated to Medina and his house in Mecca was seized by Abu Jahl. He died after his sister Zaynab, who passed away in 20 AH. ابو احمد بن جحش، جنہیں عبد بن جحش بھی کہا جاتا ہے، نبی کریم کے صحابی اور ابتدائی مسلمانوں میں سے تھے جنہوں نے دار الارقم میں دعوت سے پہلے ہی اسلام قبول کر لیا تھا۔ وہ جحش بن ریاب اور امیمہ بنت عبد المطلب کے بیٹے تھے، جس کی وجہ سے وہ نبی کریم کے کزن تھے۔ وہ زینب بنت جحش (نبی کریم کی زوجہ) اور عبداللہ بن جحش کے بھائی تھے۔
أَبُو أَحْمَد بْن جَحْش
أبو أحمد بن جحش (عبد بن جحش) صحابي جليل من السابقين الأولين في الإسلام. ابن أميمة بنت عبد المطلب، وهو صهر رسول الله. كان ضريرًا وهاجر إلى المدينة. توفي بعد أخته زينب بنت جحش سنة 20 هـ. روى عنه حديث في الصحيحين.
"Zaynab bint Jahsh, upon the death of her brother, called for perfume and applied it, saying: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah say: It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for a deceased person for more than three days, except for a husband.'"
