Abu Usayd al-Sa'idi (also known as Abu Usayd bin Thabit) was a companion of Prophet Muhammad from the Ansar, specifically from the Banu Sa'idah clan of the Khazraj tribe. His full name was Malik bin Rabi'ah (or Hilal bin Rabi'ah). He participated in all the battles (ghazawat) with the Prophet and carried the banner of Banu Sa'idah on the day of the Conquest of Mecca. He became blind in his later years and died in 40 AH (or 60 AH) in Medina at the age of 78. He was considered by some as the last of the Badri companions (those who participated in the Battle of Badr) to die. He narrated 28 hadith, which are recorded in the major hadith collections including Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
