Leadership
The third ruler of the Delhi Sultanate (r. 1211-1236) and the effective founder of the Sultanate of Delhi. He was a slave of Qutb-ud-din Aibak who rose to power, consolidated Muslim rule in North India, and saved the Indian subcontinent from the Mongol invasion of Genghis Khan. He is known for his administrative reforms, the introduction of the silver Tanka and copper Jital currency, and the construction of the Qutb Minar minaret.
