Hafsah bint Umar (RA) was the daughter of Umar ibn al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam, and a wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. She was born around 605 CE. She was known for her strong personality, courage, and intelligence, traits inherited from her father. She was one of the few women at that time who could read and write. Before marrying the Prophet, she was married to Khunais ibn Hudhafa, who was martyred at the Battle of Badr. The Prophet married her in 625 CE. She is most famous for being the custodian of the first compiled Quran manuscript (Mushaf). During the caliphate of Abu Bakr, the Quran was compiled and kept in her care. She died in 665 CE and was buried in Jannat al-Baqi.
