عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ اسلام کے تیسرے خلیفہ اور نبی کریم کے قریبی ساتھی تھے۔ وہ 574 عیسوی میں مکہ میں پیدا ہوئے۔ وہ اپنی شرم و حیا، سخاوت اور تقویٰ کے لیے مشہور تھے۔ وہ نبی کریم کی دو صاحبزادیوں کے خاوند تھے، جس کی وجہ سے انہیں 'ذوالنورین' کا لقب ملا۔ انہوں نے قرآن مجید کو ایک مصحف میں جمع کیا۔ 656 عیسوی میں شہید ہوئے۔

عثمان بن عفان هو ثالث الخلفاء الراشدين وأحد أقرب الصحابة إلى النبي محمد. عُرف بحيائه وكرمه وتقواه. تزوج من ابنتي النبي مما أكسبه لقب 'ذي النورين'. أسلم على يد أبي بكر. كخليفة، جمع القرآن في مصحف واحد موحد. استشهد عام 656 م.
