زبیر بن عوام رضی اللہ عنہ ان دس صحابیوں میں سے تھے جنہیں جنت کی بشارت دی گئی تھی اور وہ نبی کریم کے کزن تھے۔ وہ صفیہ بنت عبدالمطلب کے بیٹے تھے۔ وہ ان ابتدائی مسلمانوں میں سے تھے جو حبشہ ہجرت کر گئے۔ وہ اسلام کے لیے تلوار کھینچنے والے پہلے شخص تھے۔ انہوں نے پندرہ سال کی عمر میں اسلام قبول کیا۔ وہ نبی کریم کے تمام غزوات میں شریک ہوئے۔ وہ 656 عیسوی میں جنگ جمل میں شہید ہوئے۔

الزبير بن العوام هو أحد العشرة المبشرين بالجنة وابن عمة النبي محمد. كان من أوائل المسلمين الذين هاجروا إلى الحبشة. كان أول من سل سيفاً في سبيل الإسلام. أسلم في سن الخامسة عشرة. شهد جميع الغزوات مع النبي. استشهد في معركة الجمل عام 656 م.
