Abu al-Darda (Uwaymir ibn Zayd al-Ansari) was a distinguished companion of Prophet Muhammad from the Khazraj tribe of Medina. He was one of the few individuals who compiled Quranic revelations during the Prophet's lifetime. He was known for his asceticism, piety, and deep knowledge of the Quran. Caliph Umar appointed him as the first qadi (judge) of Damascus, where he established a school of Quranic instruction that produced generations of scholars. He is considered the true father of the Damascus school of Islamic scholarship. His students dominated the office of qadi in Damascus for nearly a century. He died in Damascus in 652 CE and was buried at Bab al-Saghir cemetery.

ابو الدرداء (عویمر بن زید الانصاری) نبی کریم کے جلیل القدر صحابی تھے اور قبیلہ خزرج سے تعلق رکھتے تھے۔ وہ ان چند افراد میں سے تھے جنہوں نے نبی کریم کی زندگی میں قرآن جمع کیا۔ وہ اپنے زہد، تقویٰ اور قرآن کے گہرے علم کے لیے مشہور تھے۔ خلیفہ عمر نے انہیں دمشق کا پہلا قاضی مقرر کیا، جہاں انہوں نے قرآن کی تعلیم کا ایک مدرسہ قائم کیا۔

أبو الدرداء (عويمر بن زيد الأنصاري) صحابي جليل من قبيلة الخزرج. كان من الذين جمعوا القرآن في حياة النبي. عُرف بزهده وتقواه وعلمه العميق بالقرآن. عينه الخليفة عمر أول قاضٍ في دمشق، حيث أسس مدرسة لتعليم القرآن أنتجت أجيالاً من العلماء. توفي في دمشق سنة 652 م.
